Grease Screening Analysis – GTA0
GTA-0 Grease Thief Screening performs tests for ferrous wear and grease changes per ASTM D7918. Results will be displayed in MRG Navigator.
Tests Included:
Ferrous Debris Testing
FTIR
Colorimetry
Basic Grease Analysis – GTA1
GTA-1 Basic Grease Analysis gives insight into the condition of an in-service grease. Grease condition is analyzed based on Wear, Consistency, Contamination, and Oxidation.
Tests included:
Die Extrusion
Ferrous Debris Testing (FerroQ)
FTIR
Grease Colorimetry
Elemental Analysis
Moisture Testing
Advanced Grease Analysis – GTA2
GTA-2 Advanced Grease Analysis assesses ferrous and non-ferrous wear modes, consistency and flow properties, contamination sources, and oxidation condition of the grease. This procedure provides detailed measurements of the grease condition to improve maintenance strategies and equipment reliability.
Tests Included:
Die Extrusion
Ferrous Debris Testing (FerroQ)
FTIR
Grease Colorimetry
Elemental Analysis
Moisture Testing
RULER
Analytical Ferrography
Rheology
Analytical Ferrography
Analytical Ferrography is performed on submitted sample. Sample is prepared onto a glass substrate for microscope analysis. An experienced analyst evaluates the size, shape, color, morphology, magnetic nature, and amount of debris of the various types deposited on the slide, and provides a quantitative and qualitative assessment, including recommended actions for the equipment in question.
Grease Particle Analysis
Grease Particle Analysis uses a backlighting system inside the Grease Thief Analyzer and a high resolution camera to count and size the particles found in the in-service grease sample. The results are reported as mg/g concentrations in three size ranges and the median particle size in μm. This information is incorporated with traditional greases analysis test results to provide a holistic view of the grease condition. In addition, the detailed shape factors retained for all the partciles counted can later be used to characterize unique particle types that may be of interest to a specific sample.
Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy
Microscopic inspection of submitted parts, and assay utilizing Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) to determine elemental concentrations by percent weight.
ATP Microbial Content
The cellular-ATP is extracted from the sample and measured using a bioluminescence enzyme assay. The assay generates measurable light proportional to the concentration of cellular-ATP present in the sample. This value is reported in pg ATP/mL.
Vapor Pro Moisture Analysis
Moisture Vapor Pro Grease is ppm moisture detection using a relative humidity sensor.
